Broken Wings
Releasing Kindness
but·ter·fly ef·fect
noun: butterfly effect
The scientific theory that a single occurrence, no matter how small, can change the course of the universe forever.
Broken Wings can travel to your community to create a safe space for healing discussions about kindness. This installation offers an alternative solution to work towards resolving cultural or relational divisions. Based on the notion of the butterfly effect, the art portrays how multiple tiny movements can influence positive change.
Broken Wings enacts the Butterfly Effect of Kindness, reminding individuals that every small deed or word has an effect. This notion solidifies through collective contributions as the project grows. The exhibit challenges participants to explore new ways to empower others, especially those who are hurting, isolated, or bullied, through empathy and action.
Powerful message for schools and anyone concerned for our growing unkind culture.

Broken Wings invited participants to help heal our culture through small acts of kindness

At the exhibit, young visitors learned that, like the tiny motion from a butterfly's wings, even the smallest deed or word has an effect

The work stressed that every interaction—positive or negative—has the potential to change the course of someone's life

Connect a colorful band as a commitment to start a Butterfly Effect where one positive choice impacts another positive choice—to help better our world

We are grateful that 65,000 ArtPrize visitors made a promise to start the Butterfly Effect of kindness
